A wooden jetty, snowy mountains mirrored in the water and a whole day in eight minutes: dawn, day, dusk and night, with clear skies, clouds, rain, fog and now and then a thunderstorm or snow. Hold to cast (farther is deeper), tap when the float goes under and reel keeping the line in the green: too tight and it snaps, too slack and the fish slips away.
Every fish bites at its own hour, in its own weather and at its own distance, and fights its own way: some only at night, some only in rain or fog, and the Lake's Old King only when it pleases.
